TORNADO!
The idea of Tornado is to add a little bit of excitement to feedback. It’s particularly useful for revision activities with lots of questions. Students are given a worksheet (with up to 30 questions) and in teams, work out the answer to each question. The worksheets can be about anything; this can even be used before exams to go over grammar and vocab with a multiple choice style activity. When everyone is done, check answers as a class using the tornado game. Each team selects a number and give you the answer to that exercise. If their answer is correct, click on the number on the slide. The number will reveal either a new number (which will be the points allocated for getting that question right) or one of four pictures. Depending on the pictures they might gain, lose or steal points from another team. You must ensure you keep score of each team’s points, and the team with the most points at the end of the game, wins! It sounds a bit complicated, but it’s actually really straightforward.
