Hi! Welcome to my zoo! Today is a special day- we have some animals being delivered to live here. Can you help me find out what they'll need to survive?
Wow! A lion! What kind of needs will we need to fill for this lion?
We also have a new Giant Panda and African Elephant! What will we need for those animals? Go into a breakout room and list the survival factors for those two animals by clicking on them and answering the question that pops up!
Our last delivery was a Great Horned Owl and a Penguin! What will we need for those animals? How is that the same or different for the others we've identified? Choose one of the animals and list the survival factors for those two animals by clicking on them and answering the question that pops up!
What happens when we observe a small population in its native ecosystem?
Today, We Will...
- explain how environmental factors impact the population growth rate
- diagram the growth pattern that populations follow as organisms face survival factors
- explain how a decrease in survival factors leads to species becoming endangered
Vocabulary
Endangered
species that is at risk of going extinct
Population Limit
the maximum population size that can be supported in a particular area without destroying the habitat
Survival
the act of remaining alive
