INDEX

Helena wants to introduce her boyfriend Michael to her family for the first time, but the family is quite loud and throws out personal and embarrassing details about her to Michael.

LOGLINE

The beginning of the film will be the setup as Mick meets Helena's parents for the very first time. During the First act, Mick is introduces to Helena's family. The mother is a fitness freak and very boastful of the Greek heritage, the father tries to be more understanding in regards to the differences between Michael's culture and Greek culture, and the grandmother will make comments about Mich right in front of him because she does not speak English

STORY

The second act of the film will be set during the dining room. As they are about to eat, everything begins to actually turn for the worse as the parents begin to share more info causing Helena to storm out out of frustration. In the midpoint of the film. Michael would talk to Helena and go downstairs, calming her downIn the third act. As Michael begins to open up and give this passionate speech then the family begins to truly bond with one another).

STORY (PT.2)

The Genre of the film is a comedy. Comedy will arise from the situations the characters are in. Because it is a low budget comedy set in a house - Comedy on a budget: humor relief from witty dialogue and everyday absurdities of lifeDialogue/ reactions from individuals (for instance: Alexis says something which Helena doesn't want to be exposed)This choice is inspired by Kevin Smith's Clerks, which also has the same concept.

GENRE

The style of the film will be realist. I drew inspiration from various sitcoms like The Office and Parks and Rec in regards to its handheld camera movement/ documentary approach, and because it will be a two-camera setup, as well as Kevin Smith's Clerks which just, like my film, is a realist comedy set only in one location. In regards to the humour, I will draw inspiration from Greek sytcoms that I grew up in, as well as from the sytcoms that I have mentioned above.

TONE & STYLE

Aditionally, the colour pallet of the film's colour pallet will primarily consist of a yellow colour as it symbolises friendliness. It will mainly stem from the sun outside. although subsequent colours such as red will be the primary colours of each character which will contrast the overall atmosphereThroughout the film, the primary colours that the characters will be associated with, will begin to try and blend slightly more with the yellow colour pallet symbolising change. The film will possibly be a full on moclumentary with interviews from each of the characters, similar to the sitcoms that I have based my inspirations on

TONE & STYLE pt.2

The primary colour pallet of the film will be yellow. I want it to cseem as if it is natural sunlight. Not to be pversaturated

HELENA:The daughter and the main character of the film. mid-20’s. Extroverted, and outgoing quite hesitant to bring her boyfriend to see her family. Has a quick fuse and gets frustrated a lot but she is very outgoing and bubbly as well. She will wear throughout the film red clothes, as red symbolises Passion and romance

CHARACTERS

the audience surrogate. He is based on my sister’s boyfriend who also has the same name. Really calm. He and Helena are complete polar opposites but they do love each other a lot. He is the one who calms her down. Can also be a little nervous as he is thrusted in this environment, specifically with both the father and the mother being both boastful about their Greek heritage but also very inquisitive/ interested in himOver the course he begins to warm up to them, as he and his family are not that close as he begins to appreciate them more and more.Mick has a flat character arc. Is the personification of the main message about family and acceptance. He would wear White and green clothes. Mainly because green is the opposite of red, as it signifies growth, healing, relaxation and freshness

Mick

ALEXI - The father, very intelligent, similar to his daughter where he is outgoing and extroverted, overshares wayyy too many details, is interested in British culture although he has been in Britain for quite a long time. Latches on to the boyfriend for details about his culture. The comedy will come from the fact that he will try and make questions sometimes at the worst possible moments about several aspects (a good amount of banter and comedy can also stem to brief and comedic arguments about this)The reason because of his curiosity for England , will be because he has always dreamed of going to England ever since his late teens, and now that he is in England he tries to live his new life to the fullest and absorb as much information as possible

Alexis - the father

The mother. Passionate for fitness. Much more introverted. Similar to Alexi she overshares a lot of information in regards to her daughter and childShe is a fitness freak. she is boastful of her Greek heritage, she will always link something back in some way shape or form. Similar to my mother in a sense. She is a patriot and someone who is unashamedly proud of being Greek

LUKIA - THE MOTHER

The grandmother. Gets offended by every single thing. Like… literally… EVERY. SINGLE. THING. Rina is the one character who is based on a family member the most. Would make massive portions of food and everyone would not be able to eat all of it, and would immediately begin to blame herself for this.

Rina - The grandmother

The film will take place within a living room, a dining room and a bedroom.Still trying to figure out if I will be filming on location or on a sound stage

CREW

I always loved telling stories which are comedic but also had some type of realism in them. Furthermore, I have wanted to make a comedy film centered around a Greek family, ever since my first year in University. The idea for the film became more evident as my sister brought her partner to visit my family during the Hollydays. I am the best person to tell this story, as this is loosely based on personal experiences. T
