What if the stem has more than one vowel?
First, identify the stem

If the stem has more than one vowel, the last vowel of the stem changes.

The stem of the verb is the section of the verb before its -ar, -er, and -ir ending

despertarse - despert-

despertarse - despert- vestirse - vest- acostarse - acost-

Antes de and despues de

Despues vs despues de
Despues vs despues de

Después de + verbs in the infinitive. Nacho se duerme después de banarse. Nacho falls asleep after bathing himself. Después can stand on its own. Nacho trabaja. Después, se bana. Nacho works. Afterwards, he bathes himself

Antes de + verbs in the infinitive. Nacho se duerme antes de banarse. Nacho falls asleep before bathing. Antes can stand on its own. Nacho trabaja. Antes, se baña. Nacho works. Before, he bathes.

REMEMBER THAT THE REFLEXIVE VERB'S INFINITIVE MUST BE IN AGREEMENT WITH THE SUBJECT OF THE SENTENCE.
