The Woman Who Stood Up While SItting Down

On December 1, 1955, a woman in Montgomery was arrested for refusing to give up her seat to a white person on a bus. She was charged with disorderly conduct. This incident sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which lasted 381 days and ultimately led to the end of segregation on public buses. Rosa Parks was able to ignite a major shift in the Civil Rights movement by taking a stand in that moment.

It’s astonishing to think how much this very seat ignited a significant change in the country. This seat was the one that broke barriers for all public buses. Rosa Parks transformed countless lives by being courageous and choosing to stay in this seat and not being told what to do.
This very same bus helped in a giant step towards better economy. This bus that Rosa Parks was sitting on and helped so many people and was also ultimately lead to the Montgomery Bus Boycott.

On Aril fourth 1968, tragedy struck. The civil rights activist was sadly assassinated. Martin Luthe King jr. was at a hotel in Lorraine Motel in Menphis Tennessee. Martin Luther King jr was only 39 when he died. He was on his balcony at his motel in room 306. Every civil rights activist was shocked. Martin Luther King jr. was a major role in the civil rights movement. He was great at using his words and not violence. He achived many milstones for the African american people. His death will be greatly remeberd.

This is the place where tragedy struck. Here on April 4 1968, Martin Luther King jr was sadly shot and killed by James Earl Ray. The whole world was shocked wich is why this is now a museum. At this museum nothing was touched except food and other thing that could go bad.

MLK's killer was James Earl Ray. He shot and killed MLK on April 4th 1968 at a motel in Memphis Tennessee. James Earl Ray was later caught in Heathrow airport in London England

This room is Martin Luther King's hotel room at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. Nothing was touched, and everything was kept the same. Just outside his room on the balcony, he was sadly shot.
