How did hong kong come into Britain's possesion?
This is the location of Hong Kong, the modern administrative district of the People's Republic of China.
- Hong Kong has the longest covered escalotor in the world. The mid-levels escalator runs for half a mile.
- There are 263 islands in Hong Kong.
- The main language spoken is Cantonese
Why Is Hong Kong No longer in Britain's possesion?
There are a large amount of islands in Hong Kong which are known as the New Territories howver these islands were leased to Britain, not owned. WHen the lease ran out for those territories, it meant that Hong Kong would be almost impossible to run.. Because of this, an agreement was reached with China for Hong Kong to have a sperate governing system and retain some fits rights until at least 2047
A way Britain was making money in the victorian age was selling opium. Opium was produced in India then sold to China. China at one point decided that it didn't want anymore opium so England went to war with then twice. Britain won both times and took Hong Kong from China.
