"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." — Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick) in Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) If you're like me, then the very first thing you heard when viewing this image was the playback of the Dream Academy's 1985 cover of "Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want" by The Smiths. Take a short pause here to listen to the instrumental for the song and watch the scene below!

"The moment in time implied in a mouth open in pain, sorrow, fear, or laughter disrupts the timelessness of the human face in repose, and, as a pebble disturbing a glassy lake, creates aural as well as visual ripples." - Puglisi (pp.116-117) "Giving voice to the still model and evoking the sounds of life, whether in music, speech, or emotive utterances, offered a pictorial device that, along with light and color, animated individual figures and amplified the dramatic action in striking and memorable images. For viewers, the movements of the painted figures’ mouths prompted them to hear the sounds in their minds, converting one sensory mode into another." - Puglisi (pp. 117-118)
