December 1st, 1995 was when it all began. A white man boarded the bus when he quickly noticed that there was a lack of room. The law was that black passengers were required to give up their seats for white passengers. He went to the back of the bus where the black passengers were forced to sit. He demanded a woman to move and provide him the seat. This woman happened to be Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks did not take things lightly, so she refused. She didn't condone any violence, just simply said no. She unfortunately got arrested. She was charged with "disobedience against racial segregation."

MLK " I have a dream"
Martin Luther King Jr. gave the well-known " I Have a Dream " speech in front of thousands of people at the Lincoln Memorial on August 28, 1963. The placed was crowded with black and whites that wanted equal rights for all the people, over 250,000 people showed up.

These are the Freedom Riders that participated in the social event which occurred on May 4, 1961. Their intention was to protest segregated bus terminals. The group consisted of white and African American civil rights activists. On May 20, 1961, a bus was carrying the Freedom Riders from Montegomery to Birmingham. An angry mob was waiting for the passengers so they could provide violence towards them.

The Lincoln Memorial honors Presdient lincoln and the things he did for this country. He freed the blacks form slavery and fought for their rights just like Martin Luther King Jr did.

James was a bus driver from 1943 to 1999. He was an employee Montegomery Bus Lines. On March 21,2002 and he was 89.
The man who asked Rosa Parks to move in order for white passengers was James F.Blake.

The riders rode on a Greyhound bus. Seven of them took a Trailways bus planning to ride to New Orleans. The riders were fully aware of the dangers they would face and took that sacrifice to change society for the better.
The Freedom riders rode in 2 sepereate buses to New Orleans.
After Parks got arrested, she lost her tailoring job. She moved with her family to Detroit, Michigan in 1957. She continued to stay an active member of the NAACP. She worked for John Conyers from 1965-1988.
Rosa Parks was arrested in the Montegomery City Jail on December 1, 1955.
