In Mexico we celebrate “The day of the dead’s” On November 1st and 2nd, we use to visit the cemetery whit our family to honor the members of our family or friends that are resting in peace. It is a celebration that has cempasúchil flowers, the food that they love in life, candles, procession or parades, prayers and fun. We love smelling cempasúchil flowers, and we make altars in the graves, we place photographs, crosses and sometimes we dress in costumes and give candies. I enjoy hanging Paper Decorations that we call Papel picado. But I hate watching Catrina’s, because they scare me, but in Mexico Catrina’s show the active and joyful afterlife In my family, my mother loves to cook food that the deceased enjoyed eating while they were alive, and my father loves to create altars that we name Ofrenda de Muertos. It is a space to remember our loved ones and candles light guide the spirits back home. My siblings enjoy putting salt, water, wine, flowers, candles, fruit, bread and pictures on the altar. Afterwards, we love eating and enjoy remembering our dead relatives and friends.
