PLASTIC POLLUTION IN OCEANS
PLASTIC POLLUTION IN OCEANS
CARLA VALLEJO, ELISA REES AND CAROLINA RODRIGUEZ
THE PROBLEM
Over 50 percent of plastic gets used only once then thrown away and it affects our oceans really bad because it decomposes very slowly and it breaks into tiny pieces which damages the animals living in the sea because they start eating it
EXAMPLES
-Thousands of sea animals like turtles, seals and more die each year by eating plastic specifiqually over 100 000 thousand - It deteriorates the resilience of the ecosystem and poses a danger to human health if contaminated fish and seafood are consumed. - The loss of marine animals causes the balance in the ecosystem to be broken, altering the rest of living beings.
SOLUTIONS
-Support organizations that are dedicated to the protection of marine habitats. -Reduce plastic consumption in our daily lives. -Avoid throwing trash on beaches and organize more beach trash collections.
CONCLUSION
-Garbage in the oceans is destroying the marine ecosystem, killing animals that live in the sea. -This problem affects us humans, since the fish we eat may have ingested plastic microparticles and we are ingesting plastic. -We can solve this by doing our bit, such as stopping the use of plastic products.
