Password Top Tips
Don't use the same password for multiple devices or accounts.
Don't vocalise your password in public places and be mindful of people looking over your shoulder when inputting your password.
Avoid making physical copies of your password, unless stored safely and securely.
Avoid common passwords such as your favourite sports team, birthdays or names of family members as these are easy to guess or find out through social media.
The NCSC recommends that you combine 3 unique words, that means something only to you, with numbers and symbols to create a secure, memorable password, unique to you, such as 'desk lion cappucino' which could become 'D3$kL10ncappUc1n0'.
Use a password manager to store your unique account passwords, reducing the strain on yourself.
Whenever possible on any app or device, activate Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) to improve the level of security of your system and accounts.
If you suspect that your password has been compromised, change it immediately.
Never share your password with anyone. If however, you are sharing a document which is password protected, you should forward the password protected file and then forward the password through another media.
