Exercise 8.4
(Zachary & Fain, 2022, p. 262)
Were we to change anything, I would want to be more confident in my skills and knowledge. I believe it would have benefitted us during the Enabling Growth phase.
Exercise 8.4
(Zachary & Fain, 2022, p. 262)
We discussed application of new learning and celebrated milestones. We didn't use the established protocols since we were unsure of how to bring closure effectively, but have since learned.
Exercise 8.3
(Zachary & Fain, 2022, p. 261)
I want to improve at creating challenges. I want to provide tasks that push the mentee to grow in their learning, but without overwhelming or feeling excessively difficult.
Table 8.1
(Zachary & Fain, 2022, p. 247)
Recently, we've met with or without agenda, signaling meeting just to converse. While it may mark the end of our mentor partnership, we will continue to collaborate and communicate (Zachary & Fain, 2016, 258).
Learning From the Overall Experience
We learned from our achievements and mistakes. Our missteps allowed us to adjust throughout the experience, and can support us for future collaborations (Zachary & Fain, 2022, p. 250).
Exercise 8.2
(Zachary & Fain, 2022, p. 256)
I learned seniority is not the only thing that contributes to mentorship. I have skills and knowledge that can be useful to others.
Accomplishments
I'm proud of my work supporting my mentee. I appreciate his comittment to our collaboration, and everything he achieved - broad goals, small steps, and everything inbetween (Zachary & Fain, 2022, p. 257).
Moving Forward
Although we'll continue to communicate, it's still difficult to acknowledge that our partnership ended. It's important to remember only a chapter of our journey ended, not the entire story (Zachary & Fain, 2022, p. 259).
