We chose the Bahamas as our country because of its nature, the beautiful and clear blue beaches, and it's resorts and accomodations.It's a very popular country among tourists, and a recommended vacation spot.

Geographic location

  • The Bahamas it's an archipelago that spreads over 1223 km in the Atlantic Ocean, reaching territories in Eastern Florida, North of Cuba and Hispaniola and the west of some british territories;
  • It's composed by 700 island, which 30 of them are inhabitable;
  • It has a area of 13 878 km2;
  • The capital it's called Nassau(New Providence);
  • Highest point: 63 m;
  • The Bahamas total population is 306 622 habitants: 155 896 females and 147 715 males;
  • 90% of the total population lives on New Providence, Grand Bahama and Abaco.
    • New Providence: 69.9 %;
    • Grand Bahama and Abaco: 15.5%;
    • Other islands: 14.6 %;

Demogrphy

  • The capital is called Nassau and it's located on the New Providence Island, it has over 296 522 habitants, according to the 2010 census;
  • Nassau is referred as the primate city, because of it's commerce, education, law, administration, and media of the country;
  • It was founded in 1670 as Charles Town, it later rebuilt as Nassau in 1695;
  • It has a area of 200 km2;

Capital city

  • The current bahamian flag was officially adopted in the 10th of July, 1973.
  • The National Flag of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas features three equal horizontal bands of aquamarine, gold, and aquamarine, with a black equilateral triangle based on the hoist side.
  • The currency of the Bahamas is the Bahamian dollar, since 1996.
