Routers
What is a router?
A router is a device that connects different networks and directs data between them. It helps computers, smartphones, and other devices communicate with each other and with the internet by deciding the best path for data to travel.
Function Of A Router
- Data packet forwarding: Routes data between devices within a network and between networks.
- Network traffic management: Directs traffic efficiently to avoid congestion.
- Network segmentation: Separates networks into subnetworks for better management and security.
- Assigning IP addresses: Uses DHCP to assign unique IP addresses to devices in a network.
- Firewall functionality: Provides basic security by filtering incoming and outgoing traffic.
- NAT (Network Address Translation): Masks internal IP addresses, allowing multiple devices to share a single public IP.
- Wireless connectivity: Offers Wi-Fi access to connect devices wirelessly to the network.
- VPN support: Enables secure remote access to the network via Virtual Private Networks.
disAdvantages
Cost - Routers, especially advanced ones, can be expensive.Complex Setup - Configuration can be challenging for non-technical users.Latency - Can introduce delays due to processing data and managing routes.Limited to Network Communication - Does not perform functions like a switch or modem.Dependency on Software - Requires regular firmware updates and management.
Advantages
Efficient Data Routing - Directs data to the most optimal path between networks.Network Traffic Management - Helps avoid congestion and ensures smooth data flow.Security Features - Supports firewalls, NAT, and VPNs to protect the network.Device Connectivity - Allows multiple devices to share an internet connection.Network Segmentation -Enables splitting large networks into manageable subnets.Disadvantages of a Router:

Do you have an idea?
With Genially templates, you can include visual resources to leave your audience speechless. You can also highlight a specific phrase or fact that will be etched in your audience's memory, or even embed external content that surprises: videos, photos, audios... Whatever you like! Need more reasons to create dynamic content? Well, 90% of the information we assimilate comes through our sight, and we retain 42% more information when the content is in motion.

Visual content is a universal, cross-cutting language, much like music. We are able to understand images from millions of years ago, even from other cultures.
