CCA'S Career Pathways

Goals

Padlet

Your turn!

What is your dream job? How do you think you get there? What steps do you need to take to get there?

lesson 3.1: cca's career pathways

A career plan is a document that prepares you for your dream job by identifying courses and experiences to prepare you to meet your future career goals. This is an example of what your career plan will look like. It will include your chosen career pathway and many things that support your career pathway, such as:

  • your interests and skills
  • careers you hope to work toward
  • clubs and field trip opportunities
  • electives and humanities

Career Plan

Today, you will learn about the five career pathways offered at CCA when you get to high school. A career pathway will help you focus your elective courses on supporting and preparing you for your future career goals. Each pathway includes a broad group of careers with similar interests and skills. Below is an image of each of the career pathways.

CCA's Career Pathways

There are two ways you can identify which career pathway you connect with at CCA:

  • Think about the career that you identified at the beginning of this lesson. Using PA CareerZone, research your career and see which of the 16 career clusters it falls under. Each career pathway has one or more career clusters that align with them
  • Match your interests and skills with each career pathway to find which one you have the most in common.

lesson 3.1: cca's career pathways

CCA's Career Pathways

A career cluster is a group of careers with similar skills, interests, and job duties. Career clusters divide all existing job opportunities based on interests and skills, and knowing which cluster(s) you fall under can help you find a career. For example, maybe you thought you wanted to be a pediatrician, but you want to research similar jobs to be sure. Pediatricians fall under Health Science. If you explore other careers in Health Science, you will find that they all require you to have similar interests and skills.

Science and Health

It is possible that you are feeling unsure of a career pathway for yourself, and that is okay! You might be undecided because you do not know what career you want in the future or because there are multiple career pathways that fit your interests and skills. If you are having trouble, take a moment to review the career pathways on the previous pages. Try to determine which two pathways best support your interests and skills. Alternatively, if you find those lists to be long or difficult, return to the results from the Identifying Your Skills and Identifying Your Interests. Use the PA CareerZone link in today's lesson to look up the career pathways of each career you were matched with.
