EXIT TICKET
As the lesson ends the teacher provides students to record their learning from the investigation of the lesson question as it relates to the Supporting and Compelling Question in their Summary Table. (Click on the plus sign to view related teacher actions from the Social Studies Lesson Structure.)
STAMP THE LEARNING
After student investigation the teacher Stamps the Learning and makes student learning visible by providing an opportunity to share their learning while creating a class cause-and-effect chain. The teacher uses this time to clarify misconceptions and provide a common language for what students have learned. DO NOW
At the beginning of the lesson, the teacher provides a short prompt reviewing a vocabulary word from the previous day while also making connections to students' lived experiences. The teacher then provides an opportunity for students to discuss their responses, while making a connection to the day's learning. ACTIVE INQUIRY
As the lesson moves into the Active Inquiry, the teacher introduces students to the lesson question, before introducing and modeling the activity. As students investigate they engage with a secondary source from the core curricular tool, with a graphic organizer to aid in processing their learning. Students are given the opportunity to work collaboratively with their peers as they discuss their learning. While students work the teacher circulates and prompts students thinking with probing questions. (Click on the plus signs to view related teacher actions from the Social Studies Lesson Structure.)
