identify the problem
A problem that the blind people have is that they dont know what is around them and if they touch the things they could guess what is that thing but maybe they touch something and they think its like a wall but is a window for example, and thats a problem that can be solved by a sensory integration toy. A sensory integration toy is specially designed to stimulate one or more of the senses. Sensory toys may be more appealing to children on the spectrum because they can help the child remain calm and provide the sensory experience they want. And this toy can be used by children and kids with autisim or with problems to stimulate touching and the age that we think that maybe be apropiate to use our toy is like children from 7 years old because they know more things and they will learn and improve better their senses
Research
Some examples of sensory integration toys include Sensory Mats, Chew Toys, Sand, Slime or Putty, Pin Art, Rainmaker Toys, Fidget Spinners, Electric Dog Pets, and Senseez Vibrating Cushions. Sensory mats provide a variety of textures, colors, and patterns. Chew toys help reduce anxiety for children with autism. Pin art allows children to make imprints with steel pins. Rainmaker toys help with visual and auditory sensory skills. Fidget spinners can decrease stress and improve focus. Electric dog pets offer mental and physical stimulation. Senseez vibrating cushions provide calming sensations. Materials used in sensory toy creation include rice, sand, water beads, and various objects for exploration to stimulate desired senses.
Imagine
some ideas of a sensoy toy for blind people could be that for example one idea for a sensory toy is that for example a toy that have different textures and help blind people to identyfy objects and it can help people or childrens with autism by teaching them how touching works and by telling them for example the different textures, another idea of a sensory toy could be a toy that can be placed in the chest of the kid and have a camera and that when the kid touches something it will detect what the kid is touching and will say for example if the kid touches a brick wall it will say "brick!" and another example of a sensory toy could be a toy that helps the children with processing problems or autism to know how to identify what they are touching, and this ideas of toys can be entertaining for the childrens because it teach the children in a fun and entertaining way.
Plan
Our plan is to make a sensory toy that helps disabled kid or children with autism and for people who have problems to stimulate touching sense, and the design of our toy is that it have some colorful buttons, and a speaker, and when the toy detects that the kid touched one of the buttons the speaker will say the material of that object, and there will be like other materials around the toy so that the kid can touch them and stimulate touching sense, so here is a sketch of what we are thinking to make our toy.
The materials that we could use to make this toy are plastic, maybe some cuircuits for the speaker to make it say like the material when a botton is pressed, some buttons made of recycled plastic and others materials like fur or others things to stimulate touching sense, and also we could use recycled materials such as recycled plastic, and etc. We would need some tools in order to make the toy for example some glue, cables maybe we would need scisors for making the design of the toy and we would need other tools or equipments.
