What significance to Routee 66 do these numbers have? 2,448 miles - The total length of Route 66 1926 - The year Route 66 was established Route 66 was officially removed from the U.S. Highway System in 1985. 400 miles - The longest stretch of Route 66 is in Oklahoma. 83 miles - The shortest stretch of Route 66 goes through Kansas. Route 66 crosses 3 time zones as it crosses America.
