- What are the long-term future aspirations for the spaces and/or community?
- What could the lighthouses represent in the context of your mission?

Step 3:Consider what could be
Turn your mind to the future as you look at the terrain and consider how it can transform. For example, consider how the how spaces and communities have responded to immediate changes, but also implemented supporting infrastructure (like lighthouses, air balloons and boats) to help them better navigate future challenges. With this in mind, consider:
- What are some realities for the living things in this space and/or community? What is the breadth of the different experiences?
- How are they responding? How are they navigating uncertainty?
Step 2: Consider what is
Look at the terrain and what is happening. For example, how is the terrain responding to natural disasters and what are the implications on spaces and communities. With this in mind, consider:
- What is the history of this space and/or community?
- What are the important pre-existing conditions (e.g. mild climate, strong community networks) and infrastructure (e.g. roads and bridges, childcare) that impacted their ability to respond to change?
- Have these conditions and infrastructure led to different impacts in different spaces and/or communities?
- How have changes affected spaces and/or communities? How has this space and/or community grown or evolved?
