Exercise 7.6Journaling for Mentors and Mentees

Mentors benefit from journaling after sessions. It aids in summarizing key points, capturing insights, and maintaining focus throughout the mentoring relationship.

Monitoring the Mentoring Process

Assessing the Quality of the Mentoring Interaction Exercise 7.1

Regular check-ins in mentoring partnerships ensures:

  • smooth progress
  • address issues promptly
  • maintains effective communication

Filling out Exercise 7.1 made me reflect on the quality of my mentor interactions. I feel that upto now I've been doing the majority of the talking. I need my mentee to open up more.

This ongoing evaluation enhances the relationship's momentum, promotes mutual learning, and strengthens the mentor-mentee bond.

Figure 7.1

When I was a new teacher, I recognized my classroom management needed improvement. However, a coworker's harsh criticism about my skills and students' lack of respect was unhelpful.
