And how do you think was music in middle ages?

RELIGIOUS MUSIC

In the medieval period, music was mostly religious and was used to praise God or teach religious doctrine. The most popular genre was Gregorian Chant:- It´s the official chant of the Roman Catholic Church. - It is monodic music. There is only one melody. - The text, in latin, is more important than the melody. - Gregorian chant was traditionally sung by men of religious orders in their chapels. - In Gregorian chant, the use of instrumental accompaniment is not permitted.

Secular music

The players of secular music were: - Troubadours: they were poet-musicians and there were often of knightly class. Above all, they sang love songs. - Minstrels and juglars: minstrels performed songs which told stories of distant places or of existing or imaginary historical events.

It´s not religious music

Secular music was sung in the vernacular language.

In this type of music, the voices could be accompanied by instruments

The Middle Ages (or the medieval period) are the period in European history that began with the collapse of Roman civilization in the 5th century CE and lasted until the start of the Renaissance in the 15th century, which is known to be the beginning of the Modern Era.
