Paleozoic era

541 - 252 Million Years ago - Anthony Font

Fun Fact #1: The paleozoic era consiting of many continental collisions resulted in the great mount chains such as the Appalachians, Ural mountains, and the mountains of Tasmania

What the World Was Like

During the Paleozoic Era the world was very fragile and vulnerable and truly a make it or break it period in the world. The Paleozoic era was a relatively hot era as the "seafloor spreading released a large amount of CO2 into the atmosphere" (Scotese, 2021). The Paleozoic had many continental collisions which did not end until the Precambrian period. (Astronomical time scale for the Paleozoic Era, 2023).

Fun Fact #2: During the Paleozoic era, the very first plants on land began to grow during the GOBE

Main Events

The Cambrian explosion featured very sudden changes, like the oxygen levels ramping up suddenly, which caused for changes in the Ocean to occur which allowed for animals to develop. "The Cambrian explosion witnessed an explosive emergence of animals, marking a revolutionary shift in Earth's life system" (Astronomical time scale for the Paleozoic Era, 2023). " The Great Ordovician Biodiversification Event resulted in three times the diversity of the Cambrian, ... a 700% increase in the number of families of marine organisms" (Astromomical time scale for the Paleozoic Era, 2023).

Fun Fact #3: During the massive explosion of marine life during the Paleozoic. organisms finally began to evolve by having eyes to help with navigation.
