Introduction

Learner's Profile

Why I consider CLT as the methodology to use?

The Communicative Approach or Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) would be very effective for this group due to its emphasis on authentic and meaningful communication, which aligns with the students' interests and needs.

Given that students experience stress and, in more severe cases, anxiety during exams, CLT can help reduce it by making learning more natural and less focused on evaluation

What makes it applicable to the group?

Emphasis on Real Communication: Practicing English in real contexts improves fluency and expression

Meaningful Use of Language: Incorporate shared interests for a more motivating, meaningful learning experience.

Fluency over Accuracy: Prioritize effective communication before perfecting grammatical errors.

Interaction and Collaboration:Group activities encourage practicing English in collaborative settings.

Language Functionality: Learn English applicable to everyday.

Reducing Anxiety: Communicative activities lower stress, creating a relaxed learning environment.

Conclusion

In conclusion, CLT is an ideal approach for my group, as it focuses on the use of the language in a practical and communicative way, encourages collaboration, and responds to their interests and needs in an affective way, guiding them to improve their language learning.

Learner's Profile

There are 10 students in the class, ranging from 10 to 14 years old, with an English level of A2. English is not compulsory, but the students are motivated to improve their grades and be able to communicate when they travel. Despite some anxiety during exams and a student who occasionally experiences anger outbursts, they actively participate in class by answering questions, coming to the board, and asking for clarification when they need it. While they attempt to interact with the teacher in English, most of their conversations with each other are in Spanish. The students share common interests, such as expanding their vocabulary, understanding music, and engaging with various texts, as well as similar hobbies, like music and TV series. They prefer learning through reading and writing activities, also by the experience, doing learning activities, playing games, role playing activities, and using physical objects. Although they already know some vocabulary for different situations and can use simple verb tenses, grammar structures remain a challenge. The classroom is well-equipped with all necessary materials, including a monitor, projector, whiteboard, fans, and internet connection, making it a conducive environment for learning without needing additional resources.
