Refrences A brief history of geologic time From the Cambrian explosion to the great dying
The major event that occured was the precambrian explosion
It was the fluorescence of diversity and complexity in the world’s oceans. Along with the diversification of visible life. Thanks to the precambrian explosion, we have life as we know it today.Almost every group of animals that exist today developed 40 million years ago within the Cambrian explosion. Multiceullar life advacing and taking form.
Although the Phanerozoic Eon began over 540MYA, it spans into present day times. Everything we do now as a society, and all the changes Earth undergoes is still considred to be part of the Phanerozoic Eon.
This eon was when reptiles and amphibians gained a massive advantage by developing the ability to lay amniotic eggs. It allowed them to leave their unborn offspring unattneded while protected.
While continents were colliding into each other, moutain ranges were being created. The ones we see today are simply remnants of the massive ones that have since eroded away.
The supercontinent "Pangea" actually resulted from a previously existing supercontinent called "Rodinia" splitting apart and regrouping in the later years.
During this era, marine life began to develop and evolve with invertebrates. Animals like starfish, ancient horseshoe crabs, and coral began to emerge. It marked the beginning of new life. It also included jawless fish and early sharks.
As oxygen levels increased in they ocean, they did so proportionaly on land and within the atmosphere. This incrase lead to ferns, trees, and grasslands developing and taking over much of the land
Geographical Landscape
Beginning over 540MYA
The pahnerozoic eon has an atmosphere of the likes which earth had never seen. It was warm and oxygen rich in the beginning, however the abundance of new plant life caused a mass increase in co2 levels. This increase would go on to plummet the world into a mass extinctive ice age.
From 545MYA-Present Day
Phanerozoic Eon & Its Content
New Land Animals
The continents were activly shifting throught the earl stages of the eon. They broke apart from their original pattern to form one masive supercontinent called Pangea. This is where the vertabrates and new plant life took root and called their home.
This increase in oxygen led to animals evolving greater than ever, giving birth to the first ever vertabrates that would go to inhabit the land such as tetrapods, early snakes, and the first crocodiles. The age of reptiles has dawned upon the Earth.
