CENOZOIC ERA

The cenozoic era is also known as the age of mammals as this is the period of time where many of the mammals we know of today took shape.

CLIMATE

this era was also home to the Sahelanthropus, a species of ape that is known to be the first primate to walk upright the Austrolopithecus is the first known hominin, and appeared in the fossil record around 4 million years ago

- This era started 66 million years ago and continues to this day- The Sahelanthropus came about 7 million years ago

- The cenozoic era is the last era of the phanerozoic eon- This era followed the mesozoic era (age of reptiles), which ended with the Cretaceous-Paleogene (K-Pg) Extinction event
