el lenguaje es fuente de unidad de las funciones comunicativas y representativas del entorno, surge con la comunicación pre-lingüística, no depende únicamente del desarrollo cognitivo, pero sí de la interacción con el medio; el lenguaje se adquiere mediante la relación individuo – entorno.
Vigotsky afirmaba que el pensamiento y el lenguaje, como funciones mentales superiores, tenían raíces genéticas diferentes, tanto filogenética como ontogenéticamente. Eso sí, se desarrollan en una continua influencia recíproca.
La Importancia del lenguaje
A partir del lenguaje el individuo conoce el mundo y construye sus esquemas mentales en espacio y tiempo

Habla interna
El habla privada representa el intento del niño por usar 'el lenguaje no sólo como el instrumento de pensamiento que es, sino también como una herramienta de planificación, guía y dirección de la actividad en la solución de problemas.
El habla interna es el uso de la palabra externa internalizada por el sujeto, la cual permite a su vez la expresión al pensamiento. Esta relación entre el pensamiento y la palabra es el problema más complejo de todo el análisis psicológico.
