Client choice is valuable in housing selection and service participation. Compromise may be necessary. It can be helpful to conference with clients on potential outcomes of key decisions or preferences.

Strengths can include community connections, financial resources, work experience, and skills.

Approach Housing Stability Planning with the understanding that people's needs will change over time. Consider plans that take into account a potential crisis along with potential future needs.

This approach is founded in the belief that housing is the foundation for mental and physical health and that people need their basic needs met before they can address anything less crucial.
