Mandated Reporting

Immediately if there is reasonable suspicion of abuse or neglect

WHEN

WHO

ALL employees of Inspire Preschool are Mandated Reporters, including ​“Custodians,” and ​“Human Service Professionals”

who are custodians?

Employees, volunteers, directors and operators of covered facilities and programs , and ​ ​ External staff who have regular and substantial contact with the people being served

Who are human service professionals?

Included here is mistreatment, neglect, physical or sexual abuse, psychological and verbal abuse, unauthorized restraint, violations of civil rights, failing to intercede.​
“Allegations of Abuse” includes actions or behavior that endanger the physical or emotional well-being of the person, through actions or inaction, regardless of apparent injury or harm.

Allegations of abuse

Mandated Reporters Must:

Call the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment at 1-800-635-1522 if they have reasonable cause to suspect abuse or maltreatment of children in family and foster homes, and day care settings. ​

WHEN:

Whenever a Mandated Reporter has reasonable cause to suspect a Reportable Incident involving a vulnerable person, he or she is required to make a report

WHAT PROTECTION TO MANDATED REPORTERS HAVE?

​ Failure by a Mandated Reporter to report suspected Abuse or Neglect to the VPCR is a serious matter and possible consequences include administrative discipline, termination, civil liability and criminal prosecution.

Child Care Worker; Dental Hygienist; Dentist; Personnel engaged in the admission, examination, care, or treatment of persons; Licensed Occupational Therapist; Licensed Physical Therapist; Licensed Practical Nurse; Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist/Audiologist; Physician; Psychologist; Registered Nurse; Social Worker; and School Official, including: School Teacher, School Psychologist; School Social Worker; School Nurse; School Administrator; or other school personnel required to hold teaching or administrative license or certificate.​
