Meet My Friends! "Hi! Let me tell you about my group of friends from school. First, there is Lucas. He loves winter clothing even when it isn't freezing! Today, he is wearing a blue winter hat with a big yellow pom-pom on top. He also has a bright yellow jacket with a green pattern, checked shorts, and yellow shoes. Then there is Emma. She is really stylish. She has long, wavy brown hair and is wearing a cool grey cap. Today, she is wearing a white summer dress with brown boots, and she is standing with her hands behind her back. Next to some of us is Ben. You can't miss him because he wears round glasses and has short blonde hair. He is wearing an orange jacket over a red and white striped t-shirt, light green shorts, and grey sneakers. My other friend is Mia. She always carries a big backpack for all her school books. She has brown hair tied up in a high bun. Today, she is wearing a comfy blue hoodie over a grey dress and tall brown boots. Then we have Leo. He has messy brown hair and always walks around with his hands in his pockets. He is wearing a bright yellow hoodie, a red backpack, green shorts, and green sneakers. Finally, this is Toby. He is also wearing a colorful winter hat, but his hat has three colors: pink, blue, and green! He has a light blue hoodie, dark blue shorts, and dark shoes. I love my friends, we always have so much fun together!" 📝 Teacher's Answer Key (For Matching/Labeling in Genially) To help you check the students' answers easily, here is the order they appear in the text compared to their position in boys1.png:

The aim of these vocabulary games is to either teach or check how much your ss know. There are two types of exercises that check the recognition and then the knowledge of the words. T can use each activity separately or combine them any way they want. The activities are based on a matching exercise - flashcards and names or write-in exercise - where ss need to write the correct word.

1. Introduction: What’s in the Wardrobe?

  • Activity: Use this as a warm-up or a vocabulary recap. Use the "Play" button to show the words
2. Visual Recognition: Is it Correct?
  • Activity: A quick-fire identification game. Students must decide if the label matches the item. This is a good way not only to check if ss remember the vocabulary but to encourage the use of basic grammar in negative sentences
3. Vocabulary Application: Categorize
  • Activity: A drag-and-drop sorting challenge. Students categorize items into Casual, Formal or Others clothes. Use this to discuss occasions and why certain items might fit into multiple categories.
4. Let’s Write
  • Activity: A timed spelling task. Students must correctly identify and type the names of the clothing items shown. This builds confidence in written accuracy. After the challenge is complete a new image is revealed which allows students use the vocabulary in practice using basic grammar – She is wearing …
5. Listening: Hang Your Clothes 1 & 2 & 3
  • Activity: Students listen to an audio prompt (using the microphone icon) and drag the correct items onto the clothesline. Activity 1 and 2 practice clothes and activity 3 check the knowledge of footwear.
7. Deductive Reasoning: Who is it?
  • Activity: A "Guess Who" style logic game. Students use clues to eliminate characters until only the correct one remains. This is a high-engagement, gamified way to practice descriptive language.
8. Descriptive Accuracy: What are their clothes?
  • Activity: An interactive labeling task where students identify clothing on the characters. This helps bridge the gap between isolated vocabulary and real-world application.
9. Exploration: What a mess. Find the clothes
  • Activity: A "flashlight" discovery game. Students must navigate the dark room to find hidden clothing items. There are 15 items to find. When they locate and write down all the names, the ss have to writhe the correct name of the item next to its definitions. This activity can be further used to practice where each item was found. It could give ss extra spoken or written practice.
10. Assessment: Who are they?
  • Activity: A reading comprehension task where students read a description and must identify the character based on their specific clothing description. It is a perfect wrap-up to consolidate all previously learned vocabulary.
Teacher’s Notes: Consolidation
  • Activity: Pack Your Suitcase for Summer
  • Objective: This task serves as the final summative assessment, requiring students to synthesize their knowledge of seasonal vocabulary by distinguishing between summer-appropriate items and those meant for other seasons.
  • Teacher Guidance: Use this activity to spark a brief class discussion about vacation planning. Ask students to justify why they chose specific items (e.g., "Why did you pack the sunglasses?") versus why they left others behind, reinforcing their ability to use descriptive language in context.
11.Speaking practice – image description * Activity: This activity may be used as a speaking or written practice in order to consolidate all vocabulary in practical use.
