¿ El Salvador, a smaller country but with a high population density, had a large number of citizens who migrated to Honduras in search of land to cultivate. At that time, Honduras implemented an agrarian reform that redistributed land and mainly affected Salvadoran peasants settled in its territory. This led to increased tensions between the two countries, as thousands of Salvadorans were expelled or had their property rights affected.

It was a process implemented mainly in the 1960s, whose objective was to redistribute agricultural land to improve the living conditions of peasants and reduce the concentration of property in the hands of a few landowners. This process was influenced by social, economic and political pressures, as well as by the need to modernize the country's agrarian system.
