How does your chosen film impact the way movies are made and sold today?

The use of motion capture is the big grab when it came to making this film. The techniques used such as the "simul-cam" allowed the editors and VFX artists to frame the characters exactly how they envisioned it. This also allowed the filmmakers to " be 'virtually' re-shot afterwards". There was so much that went into transferring the actors facial expressions into their in game counterparts that took years of work to perfect. Films that have used similar techniques after this film include James Cameron's Avatar: The Way of Water, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

With an estimated budget of $175 million dollars this film had all the tools needed for success. Which granted the film the opportunity to gross $607 million dollars worldwide by the end of its theatrical run. The mocap technology and techniques are what truly allowed this film to thrive. From its calls to other media such as The Iron Giant and Chucky all the way to Overwatch and the Looney Tunes. With all of these combined along with Spielberg directing, it was a perfect formula for financial success.

Steven Spielberg is a name everybody within the film industry knows and reveres. He has done it all from Comedies like Shrek to Thriller films such as the classic Jaws. Branding comes into play when distributing a fllm by having such a big name such as Spielberg attached to it. The marketing really happens on its own as he is such a huge name in the film industry. The general audience sees "A Steven Spielberg Film" attached to any poster and are already hooked no matter what the film is.
