What is the past progresive?

Examples.

It is an actions in progress in the past.*Most of the time the action is interrupted by other action.

I was running in the last week.You were singing in the party. She was crying for her boyfriend.

Rules.

1. We add ING to most verbs.

• Play-Playing.
• Look-Looking.
• Dance-Dancing.

2. For verbs ending in "E" we move the "E" and add ING

• Come-coming.
• Save-saving.
• Hate-hating.

3. For verbs ending in consonant+vowel+consonant we double the last consonant and add "ING".

• Run-running.
• Stop-stopping.
