Read Again
The student reads a sentence, paragraph, or passage aloud first.
The student rereads the same text portion, applying what they’ve learned from the initial reading and the model. This repeated reading allows students to practice and refine their fluency. They might read the passage several times to build confidence and improve their fluency.
Following the student's initial reading, the teacher or an experienced reader steps in to read the same text. As the student tracks the text with their finger, this second reading serves as a model of fluent reading. It showcases proper pronunciation, pacing, intonation, and expression, helping students grasp the key elements of fluent reading and what they should strive to emulate.
