Introduction

Oxford and Cambridge, commonly referred to as 'Oxbridge', are the two oldest and most famous universities in England. Oxford was founded in 1088 and, 112 years later, so was Cambridge. These two universities are located about 90 miles away from one another and have always been in competition to determine which one is the best. They have been the only two univerisities in the UK for a long time, since the royals wanted to have control of what teachers and students said and did, so it was easier to have just two universities to keep an eye on.

“Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge: it is those who know little, not those who know much, who so positively assert that this or that problem will never be solved by science.”
