The quotation icon reveals the data source for each stage. The question mark icon explains the purpose behind the data collected. The key icon shows how the data is analyzed, helping to unlock insights about student perceptions and experiences.

As you move down the pyramid, the data becomes more detailed, and the collection process becomes less structured. Explore how each level contributes to a deeper understanding of student experiences.

Analysis

Thematic analysis to identify patterns in student adjustment experiences, focusing on challenges and successes post-reintegration.

Data Source

In-depth interviews conducted with a group of students selected based on their responses in the exit survey. (Students selected based on their responses to exit interviews to include diverse perspectives/experiences. Criteria include perceptions of support received, readiness to return to the home campus, feelings of connection or isolation)

Analysis

Narrative analysis to examine the structure and meaning of each student’s story, highlighting key events and contrasting experiences to provide detailed insights.

purpose

Assess how well students are adjusting socially and academically. Feedback also gathered from home campus teachers (via email) regarding the student’s progress.

Data Source

Feedback gathered from all students in post-reintegration meetings, conducted by DAEP teachers 3 weeks after returning to their home campus.

Data Source

Exit survey (Google Forms) taken by all students on their last day at DAEP.

Data Source

Standardized exit interview conducted by the DAEP principal with all students on their last day before returning to their home campus.

purpose

Gather consistent, qualitative feedback on students' perceptions of support, challenges, and readiness for reintegration. Ensures reliability by using the same structured questions for all students.

purpose

Collect broad, general feedback on experiences with limited room for subjective input. Mostly closed-ended questions and ordinal variables (e.g., rating support received, readiness to return).

purpose

Explore individual stories of student experiences, focusing on their personal journey through DAEP and reintegration.

Analysis

Phenomenological analysis will explore the shared experiences of students, focusing on their perceptions of DAEP and their preparation for reintegration. Validity is enhanced by standardized interview protocol.

Analysis

Thematic analysis will be used to identify general patterns or themes in the data, highlighting common experiences and areas of need. Note: Students will be selected for participation in narrative interviews based on their responses to survey questions in order to capture a range of experiences. (Perceptions of support received, readiness to return to the home campus, feelings of connection or isolation)
