Verb to Be

Topic: Basic Greetings

Lets introduce ourselves:

I am Luis. I am 8 years old.

She is Sally, my sister. She is 6 years old.

We are happy.

Let me explain...

When I want to introduce myself I say “I am….”.

For example:

I am Peter.

When I want to introduce a friend, I say “He is…” or “She is…”.

For example:

She is Alice, my friend.

When I want to introduce my pet, I can say “It is…”.

For example:

It is my dog, Tom.

If I want to introduce my family or a group of people, I can say “They are…” or “we are…” if I am part of it.

For example:

We are a family.

They are a family.

I can also say “you are…” when I am talking to a friend.

For example:

You are my friend.

We use this verb when we want to say our name, when we want to express feelings and when we talk about ages.
