The overall theme of the Garden of Earthly Delights is the destiny of humanity. To analyze the meaning of the work, it is necessary to identify the content of each panel. On the external sides of the work, Bosch represents in grisaille the Third Day of the Creation of the World, when the waters were separated from the earth and the earthly Paradise was created. On the internal sides of the triptych, painted with bright colors that contrast with the grisaille, the artist has depicted three scenes that have the theme of sin in common.

Cristo morto sostenuto da Tre angeli

In the painting, three angels support the corpse of Jesus and prepare it for burial. The scene is set in a green landscape. Some hills and a country path are also visible. In the foreground, the ground is strewn with skulls. In the background is a village with some towers and the church visible on the right, between the angel's wings. Finally, a clear spring sky dominates the scene.

Canvas

This painting was created in 1609/10, it is one of Caravaggio's last paintings and probably the most dramatic. It shows the young David holding up the severed head of the giant Goliath. In that head is the artist's last, tragic self-portrait. The painting dates back to the years of Caravaggio's escape after being sentenced to death for murder. On 28 May 1606 Caravaggio had in fact killed Ranuccio Tomassoni in a duel

Artists

In an enchanted landscape, with hills, trees and signs of human presence, Raphael tries to represent the story of Jesus in the form of a happy family with a child on a little lamb and with Mary and Joseph observing him with a loving gaze.

La sagra da famiglia con un Cordero (Raffaello Sanzio

El Greco paints "The Knight with his hand on his chest", one of the best known paintings. This work identifies Juan de Silva, an important notary of Todeo (the capital of Spain until it was moved to Madrid. The subject is dressed in the old Spanish fashion, with a white ruff that reaches behind the ears. The figure is painted with a light background of a gray tone. There is also the inclusion of a very expensive sword, not very well known in his late paintings.

Il Cavaliere con la Mano sul Petto

In this year, Juan de Villanueva, created this museum, in the 29 th may of 1819, the first canva imported at this museum is Anìbal vencedor... from Francisco de Goya.

The start

.

The death of the virgin

In front of the wall, the Virgin Mary, who is wrapped in a monastic habit, is leaning on a cushion with her hands crossed on her lap.On the front wall there is a large window from which you can see a river landscape. These are the locks of the Mincio river. There are 11 apostles and St. Thomas is missing.

La Maja Vestida

La Maja Desnuda

La Maja Vestida was painted between 1800 and 1809 by Goya, the subject of the work is the Duchess of Alba. She is dressed according to the Spanish fashion of that period. As we can see, the background is devoid of furnishings. Goya painted this work to depict their strong bond of friendship.

La Maja Desnuda fu dipinta tra il 1790-1800 da Goya con olio su tela. Il soggetto è sempre lo stesso, ma quata volta invece di essere sestita è svestita. Il soggetto è su un divano ricoperto di velluto di colore verde.

Saturn devouring his children (Francisco de Goya)

this painting is like a scene from a horror movie, The lack of background creates a claustrophobic feeling. Saturn decides to eat each of his children at the moment of their birth, and streams of blood flow from the bites. The corpse is now without its head while an arm is found in Saturn's mouth. The work could depict Saturn as the all-consuming Time or the struggle between youth and old age. His puffy eyes give the impression that he is ashamed of his aggression.
