Welcome to this Numberella Escape Room Adventure

Ronnie Resist, Numberella and Miss A Go are in the sunken city of Valatoga on a mission to rescue some Valatogan children who are trapped in the hold of an old sunken cruise ship. Time is running out to save them. Ronnie and Numberella have just put on their drysuits and aqualungs and are preparing to venture into the hull of the ancient vessel, which has lain on the bottom of the ocean for over a hundred years. Numberella is nervous, and although she isn't letting on, she is extremely scared of enclosed spaces. Pushing her fear to the back of her mind, she adjusts her straps and opens the hatch. In a flood of bubbles, the adventurers float gently into the inky deep, and kick gingerly towards the yellow lights of the sunken wreck.

"Not as cold as I thought it would be," says Ronnie cheerfully. "No, it's not bad, is it," says Numberella nervously. "Look at those fish!" exclaims Ronnie. "They look like they're having a meeting. Ha! That one has big black bump on its side." 'Where!" says Numberella sharply. "Just... huh, it's gone now," says Ronnie. "It was just over there by the orange rocks." "Hey you two!" The stern voice of Miss Ago cuts through the static. "Stop chit-chatting and get on with it will yeh." "Sorry Agatha," mutters Ronnie. "I heard that, Ronald," says Miss Ago, still nettled after their previous exchange.

"Look," says Numberella. "I can see a doorway. And there's a keypad on it. What's the code please Miss A?" "Er... just a sec," says Miss Ago. "The Valatogans sent it over but it's encrypted. I'll tell you what it says, you have to use things you can only see around the door, otherwise I would have, you know, solved it myself." "Sure you would have," mutters Ronnie. "I heard that Ronald Resist," says Miss Ago, "And if you think that just because..." "What are the clues, Miss A please?" says Numberella impatiently. "Ah, yes, the clues. You have to solve them and collect the first letter of each word answer, or the number, if it's a number answer. That will then give you the code to unlock the door. Here they are..."

"Above the door, there are some metal rungs leading to the deck. First there are 2 rungs, then a missing rung. Then 3 rungs, then 2 missing rungs. If this is a pattern, how many rungs will there be next?"

"Below the door, there is an old pathway which the Valatogans used to feel their way to the door when the electricity wasn't working. Each flagstone has a number on it. The number nearest the door is 109. The second stone is obscured. On the third stone, the number is 95 and the 4th is 88. What is the obscured number?"

"OK well done," says Miss A Go. "Now take the first letter of the first answer, the number of the second answer, the letter of the third answer, and the number of the fourth answer. That's your code. Punch it into the keypad."

The door opens slowly, revealing a long, dark corridor lit by sporadic red lights. Numberella and Ronnie swim in, their flippers flicking, algae dislodging from the walls. "Any idea where we’re going, Miss A?" asks Numberella nervously. Only static. "Great," she mutters. "Miss A Go can’t hear us anymore." "No bad thing," jokes Ronnie, though there’s tension in his voice. "Do we have a map?" "No map," says Numberella, "but I’ve got an oxy-torch." She flicks it on, the bright white light slicing through the water. Startled fish scatter as the corridor opens into a large atrium. Above them, shadows move. "Sharks," whispers Ronnie. Large sharks circle near the surface, drawn closer by the activity below. Numberella gasps. "Look, Ronnie!" In the middle of the atrium stands a transparent cube, like a massive ice block. Inside, children jump, excitedly pointing down. "Miss A Go! We’ve found them!" yells Ronnie. Both their holoscreens ping, showing a code.Ronnie swims to the cube’s base, where an airlock door is visible. He enters the code, but there is a PFFFFT sound and suddenly, a red stain spreads through the water.

Mission 2 - The Cube

"Ronnie!" screams Numberella."I’m fine! It’s just ink—wait, no. What if it’s blood!" The sharks seem to smell it, and start circling lower. "It’s a Meltz trap! They used the children to lure us in!" The door behind them slams shut, cutting off their escape route. "I’ve only got 10 minutes of oxygen left!" Ronnie shouts. "It’s blood, Ronnie! The sharks are coming! We need to get into the airlock, now, or we’re going to be eaten alive!" "WHAT'S THE CODE?!" shouts Ronnie desperately at the panicking children in the cube. One of the children holds up a hand and extends some fingers. "4!" shouts Numberella, giving the thumbs up. "7," shouts Ronnie. "9," shouts Numberella. "8" shouts Ronnie. He enters the code. Nothing happens. "Why isn't it working?" he shouts. "Wait, wait," says Numberella. "Valatogans do a basic encryption on all their numbers.

The airlock beneath the cube opens and Numberella and Ronnie swim in. They punch the green light on the wall and the door closes beneath them. Suddenly the nose of a shark jabs through, its sharp white teeth locking into the metal. Ronnie draws out his diving knife and hacks into it savagely, and it reels in pain, bleeding heavily. Around it, the other sharks close in. The door finally clicks shut, and there is a hum as the water begins to be pumped out. "Phew," says Numberella. "That was a close one." "Ehut namagy," she says to the startled children. "Gamali English?" "We speak English," says one child, in an accent quite similar to Irish. "Thanks for coming to rescue us! I'm Robert." "Our... pleasure," says Numberella. "I'm Numberella. But we're now stuck in here with you! None of you have suits, the doors are locked, and we can't contact Miss A Go to tell her where to pick us up!"

Mission 3 - Inside The Cube

"We don't need suits," says Robert. "Look." He turns his head, and behind his ears are gills. "No way!" says Ronnie. "Y'all can breathe water?" "Yes," says a girl, for the first time. "But they don't help us against the sharks." "Fairs," says Ronnie, blushing. "All we really need to do is start the engine on this thing, but we can't figure out how to unlock it," says another of the children. "What!?" say Numberella and Ronnie together. "This is a Valatogan Warp Cube," says the boy. "You surface folk are so far behind." "Er... you're the guys stuck under the sea," begins Ronnie. "I've heard of them," says Numberella. "Take me to the console and I'll see what I can do." On the console there are various shapes, with numbers flickering above and below them.

The cube shudders and then moves upward so violently that all the children are thrown to the floor. Then it stops, equally suddenly. "We need to tell it where to go," says Robert. "Robert," begins the pretty girl gingerly. "Shut it Michaela! The puppies are long gone. You need to accept it." "But they might still..." she havers. "They're not!" says Robert again. "Puppies?" says Numberella. "Our dog had a litter of puppies a couple of weeks ago. They got left in the apartment when we were evacuated. They're dead! They're dead!" he says again, and Michaela starts to cry. "I think we should get them," says Ronnie, "Or at least see. Where are they?" Michaela shoots him a grateful look.

Mission 4 - The Puppies

"To get to them we would have to clear Residential Police BotSubs and we will never be able to answer the challenges," says Robert crossly."We might be able to though," says Numberella. "You're crazy," shouts Robert. "You come here to rescue us and now you want to take us back into the unstable end of the ship? I'm not doing it!""We at least ought to try," says Ronnie. "What are the coordinates Michaela?" He punches them into the console and the cube starts to move extremely quickly, as if the water isn't there. Suddenly they jerk to a halt, and a stern robotic voice comes over the intercom: "Attention Warp Cube!" A Sentry Bot with a blue flashing light is standing in front of them, barring a large gateway which says: "Underwater Mansions." "That's original," murmurs Ronnie. On the Warp Cube's screen, the following instructions appear:
