- The Southern colonies were the warmest of the three regions, winters not difficult to survive, but the hot and humid summers gave rise to the spread of disease. The warm climate made it possible to grow crops throughout the year and was ideally suited for plantations.

South Carolina Colony
In 1633 King Charles II of England gave eight British Nobles joint ownership of the province of Carolina. The First permenant English settlement, founded in 1670, was named Charles Town in honor of Charles II. It's Government, based on feudal principles, was drawn up in part by the philosopher John Locke. It encouraged the plantation system and an aristocracy. Vast rice and indigo crops eventually brought the planters wealth.

Our natural resources are widely available making it easy for us to build homes and shelter for our people.
