EVENTS

In 1633 King Charles II of England gave eight British Nobles joint ownership of the province of Carolina. The First permenant English settlement, founded in 1670, was named Charles Town in honor of Charles II. It's Government, based on feudal principles, was drawn up in part by the philosopher John Locke. It encouraged the plantation system and an aristocracy. Vast rice and indigo crops eventually brought the planters wealth.

Our natural resources are widely available making it easy for us to build homes and shelter for our people. We also have the largest population of slaves that are responsible for plantations and more. There is no other colony like South Carolina! We do it better - South Carolina
