Introdução

O tempo é uma das dimensões fundamentais da experiência humana, permeando todos os aspetos das nossas vidas. Desde a medição precisa dos segundos num relógio até à reflexão filosófica sobre a sua passagem, o tempo acompanha-nos nas nossas rotinas, decisões e relacionamentos. Este trabalho busca explorar as diversas formas de medição do tempo, desde o ínicio da raça humana.

Durante o Período Paleolítico, os caçadores usavam a posição dos astros e seus ciclos para prever mudanças da Lua, as estações e o comportamento dos animais, garantindo uma caça bem-sucedida e a sobrevivência do grupo. No Período Neolítico, a agricultura exigia um conhecimento preciso do tempo para realizar corretamente o cultivo e a colheita, assegurando a subsistência da espécie.

Periodo Paleolítico

No período Paleolítico, os seres humanos viviam em sociedades de caçadores-coletores, e a medição do tempo era intimamente ligada aos ciclos naturais. A observação do movimento do Sol, da Lua e das estrelas era essencial para prever mudanças sazonais, essenciais para a caça, coleta e sobrevivência. Evidências arqueológicas, como as marcas em ossos e pedras, sugerem que essas comunidades registravam ciclos lunares, criando uma forma rudimentar de calendário.

Egípcios

Os egípcios foram pioneiros na criação de dispositivos para medir o tempo. Eles desenvolveram os primeiros relógios de sol, que utilizavam a posição das sombras para marcar as horas do dia. Esses relógios eram frequentemente colocados em locais públicos ou em templos, simbolizando a importância do tempo na vida cotidiana e nas práticas religiosas. Durante a noite, os egípcios empregavam clepsidras ou relógios de água, que funcionavam pelo escoamento controlado de água entre recipientes. Além disso, os egípcios baseavam grande parte de sua organização temporal no ciclo do rio Nilo, cujas cheias regulares marcavam o início de cada ano agrícola.
