  • The country has a high birth rate and high death rate
  • Common in developing countries.

  • A Stationary Pyramid represents a poulation that is stable - meaning it's not growing and not declining
  • Evenly distributed population across age groups
  • Occurs in newly-developed countries which have stable birth & death rates

  • A Constrictive Pyramid represents a poulation that is declining
  • Narrow base due to a decrease in babies being born
  • Thick middle section
  • Occurs in developed economies whose populations have low birth rates & long life expectancies.
