PAST SIMPLE / PRESENT PERFECT SIMPLE
Hey! I saw this movie!
Hey! I've seen this movie before!
Hey! I've seen this movie before!
I've seen this movie before! WHY? Because she saw the film in the past, but is relevant now. We use the PRESENT PERFECT SIMPLE when we talk about an action that happened in the past, but is RELEVANT TO THE PRESENT or continues to the present. It indicates that what happened in the past is RELATED TO THE PRESENT and does not say when it happened.
On the other hand, the PAST SIMPLE talks about past actions that NO LONGER AFFECT THE PRESENT MOMENT and indicates WHEN they happened. It is used when we talk about an specific time in the past or a completed action.
