England is a country in the British Isles that borders Scotland, where fifty-five million people live. The capital is London which is also the most populous city. The city is also a modern multicultural arts and business center.

The country's official language is English and the currency is the pound. Other major cities are Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol and the university centers of Oxford and Cambridge.

England is known for some famous monuments such as Big Ben, located in the northwest tower of Westminster Palace, opened in 1859 and measuring 96 meters high.
