Routine for Writing
- Picking homework playlist
- Having a clean area/space
- setting timers
- create checklists of sections
- phone call my mom when I'm stuck
- Read aloud my completed parts and edit as I go
- Add in stretch times and snack breaks
Let's Talk About Academic Writing...
- Formalized, grounded in research, and produced in academic settings
- Gained knowledge from school and university settings
- Resistance to lack of creativity, singular paths to completion, and research articles being a sole provider of knowledge
Writing as Meaning Making
Similar to plants, writing grows over time and can be quite a sight to experience with the right conditions for growth.
- Using tools support my research development, editing, orgranizing, and finalizing to share my finished product
- Writing begans with my ideas, leading into the research, synthesizing the literature, then connecting it to my focal interest
- Writing doesn't always come easily, but these tools help me get there

John Green - American Author and Youtuber - Creator of "Looking for Alaska (2005)," "Fault in Our Stars (2012)", "Paper Towns (2008)," "Will Grayson, Will Grayson (2010)" - Favorite books as a teenager and loved how I could read every book with ease
Aldous Huxley - English writer and philosopher from the - Wrote one of my favorite books from high school " Brave New World"- 1930s - led me to think more alternatively and question our set up
Michelle Alexander - American writer and Attorney - Creator of " The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness" (2010) - She addresses the realities for people of color and the systems that continue to perpetrate our communities
Writing with music can be very calming for me and it gives me a sing along break if needed.
Typically I write earlier in the mornings or late at night.
Sat at a desk on my own in proximity to nature helps my mind feel ease.
- Professors/Teachers have often weathered my writing plant
- Perfectionism has also made my plant droop
SOLUTIONS:
- Constrctive Feedback
- Letting me lead
- Finding writing methods that work for me
- Setting time aside
- Asking for Clarification
Wilting Effect
- Negative feedback and the DREADED red pen
- lack of creativity opportunities
- Procrastination!!

Laying Out My Sources

Step 3
Writing
I begin to draw and connect my ideas on paper. I make as many bubbles as possible to connect to my main topic.
I organize my sources with my ideas. I'll often make spreadsheets or write down key takeways from articles to refer to later.
I begin with my introduction and begin to break down my writing into sections. I edit as I go and input sources too.
