Twenty-two point seven million people live in North Korea.Korea is located in East Asia, the official language is Korean.
Korea was colonized by Japan in 1910. Following Japan's defeat in World War II, Korea was divided along the 38th parallel. In 1948, Kim Il-sung became the leader of North Korea and established a communist state, focusing on military power and isolating the country. To this day. North Korea has had two more leaders and continues to face international sanctions and human rights abuses.
History:
North Korea is seen as a dictatorial and totalitarian regime, with all powers centered on the supreme leader, with great respect for the Kim family, which has been governing the country since the late 1940s.
Policy:
It's very difficul to enter the country. The visa, two photographs, a letter from the employer confirming the applicant's position and place of work and a short biographical note are mandatory. Only a small part of the country can be visited and you will have to be accompanied by one or two guides. Despite everything, tourism in North Korea has become popular.

One of North Korea’s best know dishes is kimchi, which is a mix of salted and fermented vegetables and many spices.
Another famous dish is bibimbap, which is a dish of rice, sautéed vegetables, marinated meat, fries eggs, sesame and bibimbap sauce.

The Juche Tower
It is a building located in the north of Pyoongyang, the capital of North Korea. The palace serves as mausaleum fort and holds the bodies of Kim Il-sung, founder and “Eternal President” of the country, as well as kim jong-il, his son and his suceessor.
This monument is in the city of Pyongyang, capital of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

We chose North Korea for the European Day of Languages because its language, Korean, is gaining popularity around the world and many people are interested in learning it.
