We recognize and acknowledge the First People of this ancestral and unceded territory – the land that today we call California. With respect to their elders, past and present, we recognize the tribal communities as the original stewards of this land, and who continue to lift up their stories and cultures. We are grateful to have the opportunity to live and work on these ancestral lands. We are dedicated to growing and sustaining relationships with native peoples and local tribal governments. Adapted from Los Angeles County’s Land Acknowledgment
Land Acknowledgement
We recognize and acknowledge the labor upon which our country, state, and institutions are built. We remember that our country was built on the labor of enslaved people who were kidnapped and brought to the US from the African continent and recognize the continued contribution of their survivors. We also acknowledge all immigrant and indigenous labor, including voluntary, involuntary, trafficked, forced, and undocumented peoples who contributed to the building of the country and continue to serve within our labor force. We recognize that our country is continuously defined, supported, and built upon by oppressed communities and peoples. We acknowledge labor inequities and the shared responsibility for combatting oppressive systems in our daily work.
Labor Acknowledgement
Objectives
Identify key priorities for program shifts
Develop ationable steps to manage program transitions
Explore strategies for reducing program scale without sacrificing outcomes
Understand how to adapt HHD programs as funding shifts
ZOOM POLL
Planning for Funding changes
Funding streams supplement one another; funds can be used at the same time, but for unique expenses.
Each funding source preserves its distinction so that each funder can still track resources and outcomes.
The coordination of funding from several sources to support a single initiative, or a portfolio of projects or programs
What is Braided Funding?
Building within a Single funding stream Leaves gaps
Weaving funding Can create a better safety net
How TO Braid Funding
Develop new funding plan to cover priorities
What partners are out there?
What is the funding gap?
What other funding streams are out there?
How long will funding last?
Filling The Gap with other resources
Contact potential partners and funders
Program Scale Reduction
1
2

3
What is your timeline for reducing the scale of your program?
4

Analyze Length of Time (LOT) for clients
Managing transitions effectively
Length of Time (LOT) and Waitlists
Program has 20 spots for Rehousing
Rehousing Participants average 12 months of support
Program has 10 spots for Prevention
Prevention Participants average 3 months of support
- Update Budget Tool with Actual LOT for annual capacity
- Use annual capacity to build anticipanted future annual budgets
- Use waitlists to manage inflow
- Develop waitlist management plan: Can waitlist particpants be referred to other programs?
- Know when to close the waitlist and when to ramp down.
Participants Who Need More Support
