The Pinakotheks
The Pinakotheks is a three-part art gallery in the university quarter of Munich. The ‘Alte’ (old) Pinakothek has a collection of old-world masters, while the ‘Neue’ (new) Pinakothek is a gallery with a focus on European art of the 18th and 19th centuries. The Pinakothek der Moderne, opened in 2002, is four museums combined looking at visual arts through different dimensions of print and design.

As one of the most iconic examples of Baroque architecture in Germany built in the 18th Century, the Zwinger in Dresden is an artwork in itself. The palatial complex houses several museums, including the Dresden Porcelain Collection with the world’s largest collection of porcelain, the Semper Gallery with old world masters, and the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen, currently hosting a special exhibition on renowned German artist Caspar David Friedrich to mark the 250th anniversary of his birth.
The Städel Museum, Frankfurt
