Word order in questions
There are two basic types of question form:
Look at the following examples
Are you happy? Can you come to class on Saturday? Does Julian drink Actimel? What time do you have lunch? When does the class finish?
Yes / no questions
Yes / no questions often begin with the verb to be, but can also begin with other auxiliary verbs, for example do and can. We ask these questions when we want a yes or no answer. Are you a student? Can Tri sing? Is Julian from France? Do Cen Nie and Mu have a cat?
Yes / no questions
To help you remember the word order in yes / no questions, use ASI Auxiliary Subject Infinitive
Wh questions
Wh questions start with a question word, such as who, what, where, when, why or how. We ask this type of question when we want different kinds of information. These questions cannot be answered with a yes or no.

Examples What do you do in your free time? When do you go sightseeing in Bali? Where do you go at the weekends?

Take note!
The question word how is usually combined with other words when asking for information. Examples: size, someone’s age, the price of something How big is your flat? How old is your sister? How much does that dress cost?
