Created by Jagoda Szczepaniak, CJ 3320
cULTURE cONFLICT
Individual's norms and values result in actions that may put them in opposition to the expected conduct of this country (primary conflict). Youth from immigrant households may conflict with the law and their family customs (secondary conflict).
rational Choice theory
A potential offender uses a 2-step evaluation process when choosing a victim; involvement decision and event decision.
Lifestyle Theory
Personal characteristics or demographics influence one's risk of becoming a victim.
Routine ACTIVITIES THEORY
Patterns of everyday life may determine whether someone becomes a victim. Three crime elements determine someone's likelihood of becoming a victim: (1) Suitability of the victim as a target, (2) willingness or motivation of the offender at that time, and (3) perception that the victim will not draw attention.
