Alien Adaptations Project
Your task is to create a new, never-seen-before alien that is adapted to living on another planet in our solar system. Consider what the planet is like and what features your organism needs to be successful. You may make a digital or 3D model, draw and color a picture, or create a video with pictures that show your alien.
Step 1. Choose a Planet
Decide which planet your alien will live on: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, or Neptune. Describe the planet that your alien lives on, including information about the atmosphere, composition, gravitational pull, distance from the Sun, length of day and year, temperature of the planet, and how many moons it has.
Step 2. Consider Your Alien's Traits
Think about your alien. What does it look like? What type of needs will it have and how are these needs met on this planet? For instance, think about how your alien obtains energy--is it photosynthetic? Is it a consumer? Is it a predator or prey? How does your organism move around? How does it deal with extreme temperatures or low/high gravitational pull? You must make either a labeled drawing or a labeled model of the alien you have designed and described. Tools that may help:*Recyclables to build with *Paper to draw on *markers or colored pencils for details *Adobe Spark to design a digital image *Other digital drawing tools
Step 3. Explain Your Alien's Traits
Your organism should have a minimum of 5 traits that are specific to the planet's environmental conditions. Explain exactly how these traits are going to help your organism survive.
Project Summary
Your final product must include all of the following:1. Your name and period2. The planet name and some type of background image. 3. Description of the planet, including information about the atmosphere, composition, gravitational pull, distance from the Sun, length of day and year, temperature of the planet, and how many moons it has. 4. Drawing/model of organism, with arrows clearly pointing to and labeling the 5 traits. 5. An explanation of how these 5 traits will help your organism survive on the planet. 6. Give your organism a name.
